Going to Jaco, Costa Rico for a month in January to escape the cold weather in North Carolina. Any suggestions of things to do, any rental boating possibilities? My wife and I have not been to Costa Rica so no previous experience but we are going with friends who have been there and have recommended a condominium we have rented.

Jaco Beach is pretty nice. Went there about 12 years ago and had a great time. We didn't do many water activities outside of swimming near shore. However, zip lining and horse back riding in the jungle are must. If I remember correctly, our currency went far down there. A six pack of beer was like $2..... If you rent a car, be sure you can drive a manual, as I believe that is all they have in their rental fleets. Also there are basically no traffic laws down there. I heard cops will pull you over and expect a bribe. We never got pulled over, but I was told that under any circumstances don't pay them and they will still let you go.

Have fun!

OK, OK, Go Stars, 230 Mike, and Alex8q4, it may not get as cold down here as it does in Wisconsin, Missouri, or Canada; but we do have all four seasons, especially in the Piedmont and mountains. And thank you to Berger. We will try your suggestions, especially the six pack of beer for $2.
