Basically a super snubber to protect cleats from shock loads?

If your boat is on a mooring, you should not need a snubber. The chain will act as one.

My dock is a floating one, sometimes we get big wake and the boat/dock move in opposite directions, I was just concerned about the shock load on the cleats, that why I asked.

Oh!!!

I was thinking your boat was on a mooring. I would use 3 stranded dock lines, that will absorb some shock.

You need something like this http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?pa ... id=2966551

What about a set of whips and spring lines. This way you can keep your boat off the dock and keep some slack in your lines. This is similar to how I keep my boat and it performs very well in nasty weather.

I have whips, but the spring line still snap taut with a big wake, thats where I was thinking of using them, and for the times when I just tie up without using the whips

I think you have your answer.

I get a lot of tension on my spring lines from time to time, but with a fixed dock I don't see the same harsh effects you do.

If I did, I would have snubbers on there. I have a pair, but have never had the need to set them up.

I use snubbers for our 268 Vista. I only have two, one for the spring line and the other for the stern line. Both are on the stern cleat and it provides a nice rebound in the wind. The dock we keep the boat on is shorter than the boat so the bow line doesn't need one. Anyway, I recommend them!
