Who cares about the storage, this summer I anchored in 70 feet water on our lake and had about 10 kids jumping off the back of the boat and swimming. With that huge OB there, I can't see how it can be a "fun ship"

My boss just got back from the dealer meeting -- he has the gray shirt on with his back to the camera, just boarding the 27. He said they had 9 people on the boat and it ran 51 with a full tank. At cruise in the high 30's he said you literally couldn't hear the motor and that there are something like 6 or 9 insulated storage areas or coolers. Without the engine taking up space the designers have lots of space to play with. The biggest issue will probably be price. A loaded 27 will be in the 120 range. I'm not sure if Four Winns is sending factory support to the Annapolis show in a few weeks. At the minimum our dealer rep will be there and hopefully answer questions about the new offerings.

Well...looks is a subjective thing....but I think it will sell well in coastal/salt water regions where I/Os have a rep for being very high maintenance. The safety advantages of OBs is significant too and now that I/Os have to have cat converter exhaust, they made the most maintenance intensive power package even more costly, at least for coastal/salt folks.

Easy to winterize
No cooling hoses that can fail in the bilge and pump the bilge full of salt water
No concern with fumes in the bilge
No bellows to leak and ruin the gimble bearing/ujoints
No cat converters (yet)

Yes I still run the I/O but I am way more patient, tolerant and persistent at fixing things than most boat owners I know. If FW wants to sell in coastal regions bigger boats with OBs are a must, if they stick with I/Os no one will take them seriously. That's just how it is here.
As an old boat mechanic from the Bahamas once said
"you can have an in, you can have an out, but not an in/out"!!

Us freshwater boaters may turn our noses up at outboards but the saltwater boaters do the same thing at our IO's. Why don't they put a V-drive in those boats and kill two birds with one stone? Potential to run aground?
