I have been a boater since 1957 when dad bought a 15-ft boat with a 40 hp engine to use at a small lake near our house. I now am the proud owner of a 2006 FourWinns 255 Sundowner. One of the joys of boat ownership is adding gadgets. I have reached to point in my life where I have the time and money to add whatever I want to the boat. My wife call this "dialysis", an analysis of where to put the next dial.
So here is my situation, I have everything I want on the boat and am starting to think that the boat gadgets have reached a natural conclusion. Am I just getting old or is it possible to be done with adding neat stuff to the boat?
I bought it with full camper canvas, two batteries, stern stereo control, head pump out, Sirius radio, cockpit table, transom shower, and trim tabs.
My add on list includes: two 12 volt outlets in cuddy, iPod input jack into stereo, chart pocket at helm, 5-inch chartplotter with depth sounder and satellite background charts, water temperature readings, VHF radio with DSC connected to chartplotter, spare anchor, Level Indicator (side-to-side) to help set trim tabs, Floscan fuel flow meter, gray water tank for sink, propane grill, table service for four, polycarbonate wine glasses, U.S. flag with stainless mount, magnesium corrosion protection, Shurhold buffer, many dedicated boat tools, hand-held spotlight, bow anchor roller, 12 volt Colman cooler, anchor line depth indicator tabs, and a hand-cranked clamp-on windshield wiper (very handy).
We do not boat at night so I see no need for underwater lights or so called docking lights.
What am I missing?
