Lake Michigan ice down to less than 5%. This time last year it was still 50% covered

There wasn't much ice at all on Lake Michigan up near Charlevoix this year. Our marina was about 25% open water two weeks ago. I heard it is completely thawed now and the lake Charlevoix ice is disappearing quickly. :D I'd love an early May launch date instead of the usual Memorial day weekend.

All signs are pointing to a great summer in Michigan! I've seen a bunch of fisherman already out here in Port Sheldon- one of the DNR launch courtesy docks was already in the water a week or so ago.

Hybrid bass and white bass turning on early here in TX. Good sign considering lake way high...just waiting on ramps with docks to open..don't want to smack a submerged steel BBQ pit as they are under.

I stopped by the marina yesterday and the ice is completely gone. :D Pretty nice considering the last two years there was still Ice floating around in May.
I imagine the ramp docks will go in this week as there were already fisherman using the ramp.

Now we just need the warm air to move in.

I was browsing through my photobucket uploads and came across one that I posted on this site back in 2011 (see below). I noticed that the dates for the month of March were the same as they are today and we were having unusually high temps for the month as well. All I have to say is if this summer is anything like the one in 2011 (one of the hottest in GA history), it is going to be a barn-burner.
