Post subject:  GatorSteppin' a Horizon

I decided to post this in the Banter forum since non-Horizon owners might be interested in GatorStep products as well. If I need to move it over to the Horizon forum, just let me know.

Boat is a 2005 230 Horizon, as most of you know it is basically the same layout as the 240 up until 2011ish? So this would be a good idea of how it would look for a lot of us Horizon owners.

Went with GatorStep after reading a lot of reviews about bad customer service with SeaDek and outrageous turn-around times. TJ at GatorStep emailed me back within minutes of my first quote request to them. GatorStep also claims their product is superior to SeaDek using only 3M products that wont shrink over time.

Here are a few before shots of the boat:

And the finished product. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Totally changes the interior of the boat.

Thanks guys! And thanks to GatorStep for a quality job replicating my templates. I'm hoping to take the boat out again this weekend to try it out.

Nice work, looks great.

If you don't mind me asking, how much time would you say you had invested in making the templates and laying down the GatorStep?

Mike, I'm sure you already know this. SeaDek already has pre-made templates for the 328 Vista.
So going that route would be as simple as placing an order for how much of your boat you want
to cover.

Thanks for the comment Cap'n. Actually my wife and I are interested in finding a source for the Seagrass Carpet. We like the looks and feel of the Seagrass stuff that we have seen on new boats at the boat shows over the past couple of years and thought the Seagrass Carpet would be a good fit for our 328. There were some vendors at the Toronto Boat Show that sold this product but one wanted to come to our boat to do the template and installation (cost prohibitive) and the other wanted to ship their material they wanted the templates to be done in and then we ship them the templates back for making the Seagrass Carpets. I have our factory boat carpets stored in our basement that we could use for templates if needed. I don't like the thick factory carpets in our cockpit/helm areas as we swim alot and these carpets take a long time to dry. I have not looked further into the Seagrass stuff since the Toronto Boat Show, but it would be appealing if a manufacturer of Seagrass did have the templates already for the 328 Vista. Maybe Seadek has something close enough to the Seagrass that we would like. We'll have to check it out.

That looks great! Nice write up with all the pics
You really took the boat to the next level. Its like you had a "regular" boat and turned it into a luxury model...

That looks amazing. It really took the boat to a new level.
