Hey Team,

What are some ways to test whether a lower or upper shift cable is corroded?
My 5.7 EFI with Bravo 3 seems a challenge to engage reverse...

Cheers.

How old is it? If more than 5 years, you're probably better off to just replace.

She's a 2001 model, so yes.
I see that the lower should be done by a Mechanic, but is the upper a simplistic job?
Does one normally fail first?
Never really even looked at one, as all past boats were perfect...

Hopefully a B3 person will chime in but, if one of them needs to be done by a mechanic, why not have them do both? The parts cost is around $40 each IIRC (it's been awhile since I bought one). But I think the shift cable tends to go before the throttle cable does.
