With the SS mine is attached to the drain for the oil. I do fear loosing that off it's lanyard, and will pick up a spare soon to be safe. Of course when I decide to trailer down to the Ozarks, loose the plug, I'll remember my spare is safe in the garage 4 hours away!

I have mine on a piece of cord attached to the back of the boat , then when at the ramp do a quick walk around the boat as a final check on everything , haven't sunk yet , the system seems to work for me,and naturally I have a spare.
