I am planning on making my once-a-year boat trip across South Florida from Belle Glade to Ft Myers in a few weeks. We have 4 boats (one Four Winns and 3 "other" lol) and 18 people who will Launch in Belle Glade Florida and travel 87 miles to Ft Myers Florida via the Lake Okeechobee rim canal and the Caloosahatchee River. We travel through 3 locks on the way.

We stay at the Ft Myers Best Western Waterfront Hotel, where I have a block of rooms reserved for 2 nights Nov 11-13th. The Best Western has free docking, and has recently completed a nice large floating dock that can hold at least a dozen boats. There is a restaurant at the Hotel and several within walking distance. Also, the Ft Myers downtown Restaurant and Bar district is right across the river by short boat ride, with free docking there also.

The cross FL boat trips are on the 1st and 3rd days. On the second day, we will make an outing to North Captiva Island or thereabouts.

Anyone who wants to meet up with us is welcome to contact me.

Ray

After a 1 hour drive to the ramp, it is about an 87 mile cruise from the launch ramp to the Hotel.
On the middle day, we will do 70-80 miles of cruising around.
On Day three we do the 87 mile return trip. So about 250 miles round trip on the water.
About 90 gals of gas in my boat (figured at 2.8mpg).

Great sounds like fun, the season is almost over here except for the hard core fishermen. Some never pull their boats out.

Veteran's Day Weekend 2017:
One year later and last weekend we completed the 2017 version of the same trip. About 270 miles in 3 days. 4 boats and 14 people. Trailer from West Palm Beach, FL to Belle Glade Fl, then cruise to Fort Myers on Friday. Fort Myers to North Captiva Island and Caya Costa State Park on Saturday with BBQ on the beach (and return to Fort Myers). Return to Bell Glade on Sunday including lunch at Roland Martins Fish Camp in Clewiston Fl. Trailer back to West Palm Beach.

About 20 hours on the hour-meter, and 100gals of gas. Everything worked perfectly on the old "Knot Easy"
