That's a real bummer. Positive attitude though!

The elusive loose ground. That sucks when that happens.

We decided to clean the boat up and go for our first 2017 ride this past weekend. After four hours of cleaning, the engine started right up and we headed down the river towards the Chesapeake. About two minutes in to the ride the engine died while at speed. We managed to get back home after stalling 4-5 more times. I spent the next day replacing the fuel pump, regulator, and putting new batteries in. After that... nothing worked. No blower, no pumps, no lights, nothing. Turned out the whole problem was caused by a loose ground at the back of the engine block. At least its running now and I won't have to worry about the fuel pump for a long time!

One down and one to go.
The party barge came out of storage this past weekend. :D It is getting a good cleaning this week and going in the water on Saturday.
It will be a couple more weeks before the 248 comes out for the summer.

Wow...Jeff. You seriously have two boats?

How do you keep up with all the maintenance...? I couldn't even begin to imagine.

LOL Three if you count the dinghy. :D I know, I have a problem.
I picked up the toon towards the end of last summer. Outboards are easy. I can have the oil, filter, gear lube, spark plugs and impeller changed in about an hour. I only wish the 248 was that easy.
Here in MI we do everything in the fall, so come spring all I have do to is put some fresh gas in and go.

Love that trailer under the toon! Guessing it's a pretty narrow wheel base though. Any anti-sway control on it?

Always disliked how pontoons sit atop trailers, then have 12" tires for highway speeds.

Borrowed the trailer from a friend. It is just a bare bones crank-up style. I was surprised to see it does't have any brakes. Luckly I only have to tow it about 1/2 mile from the storage lot to the lake. He uses it mainly for winter storage, hauling his pontoon about 200mi to his cabin every spring and fall.
I'm on the lookout for a float-on style trailer for it. Much more stable going around corners.

Nah...not a problem if you can keep 'em up and still get to enjoy them both...err...all.

I have been mulling over buying an old fixer upper for the sheer fun of having a project. My wife thinks I have a problem, for sure...but I have now bought so many darned tools to work on my engine and outdrive that I might as well make good use of them in my spare time...whatever that is and whenever it comes.

Ric, are you out of boats now completely, is it only PWC's for you from now?

Ric...

That is a beauty. Have you really reached 85 MPH on her? I've gone about 62 on a Yamaha and thought there was no way I could go higher and have any hope of living to tell about it.

Yep according to two GPS units, it's built by Dean's Team (the factory tuner for Team Yamaha that wins all the world championships). It's producing +/- 400hp. It's a death machine that scares the crap out of me, I love it. Doing some more work next week to try and hit 90.

I really want another boat, I'll be in the market this winter. Ive always wanted a U19 but I kinda wanna steer towards something with an outboard. The sex life hasn't been the same since I've been boatless. Nothing expensive or crazy, under 10k budget.

Thanks!

Yep alive and well, on the water every weekend. Picked up the hobby of backpacking and go camping a lot (well did when it was cooler out) and even go camping on the ski.

I really do want another boat. I wish I still had my original H180 haha that was the best boat I owned
