Post subject:  vista 258 new owner with a few questions.
Hello all,just got my first big boat a vista 258.
I have a few problems to iron out.
its a 1997 with a good 2012 motor that runs well so not all bad.
I have a little hatch problem,first the black plastic stay is broken on the round hatch,can i get a spare.
first night in the boat and we nearly give up boating,the hatch dripped condensation on us all night,then daylight and full on sun in the face at 5am.
no sleep and soaked,them were the days :wink:
anyway can i buy some sort of hatch cover to go over it.
many more questions to come.

Not sure what part broke on your hatch but check out great lake skippers. They have a bunch of OEM parts but usually the hatches are a name brand and parts can be found online somewhere. Most likely a bomar hatch.
Once you fix the leak, I cut out a piece of cardboard to fit in the hatch then put the screen in place to keep it there so the sun doesn't kill you in the morning. You could also use a piece for heavy clothe cut to size and do the same thing I suppose.
If you have the white acrylic door, the sun comes through there as well. I usually put a towel over it on the outside that drapes over the top of the door to the bottom. Seems to work.
