Even my home lake, less than 100 miles north of TLR, is up 3.5 feet in the past week. THAT is a ton of water.

Any worries about floating wood & junk with the season getting ready to start?

Looking at Weather Channel, the radar shows what looks like a major stream of moisture coming up from the south and just dumping right over TR. Reports are 7" of rain in the last few hours. PDT appears to be in the northern fringe of the system, but probably getting some of it.

Update: 1 MODOT worker has been killed, an 80 year old man has drowned, and a MO State Water Patrol boat has sunk (don't know where that happened, may not have been TR).

I'm not too worried about it at this point, but I think I recall you saying that TLR was loaded with clusters of debris in some parts last year. When PDT shoots up to about 15-20' above normal pool I'll be more concerned. We've safely boated in 10'+ for years without many concerns. The way the channel winds back and forth seems to catch a lot of the debris as you get closer to the dam area.

Any idea on what type of shape Truman is in after last year? Did you ever see the pics of the timber that had accumulated around the dam last year after it flooded? Pretty amazing stuff...

I don't remember seeing that. That's one of the problems with MO lakes, there's so much timber around them, it doesn't take much to get it floating.

Looks like Truman's up 2' as of today's report. TR is right at normal, we'll see what it does over the next couple of days.

Due to the Truman debris flowing down into the upper mile markers of Lake Ozark, I didn't put my boat on LOTO at all last summer. We didn't even go out at night ONCE because of the mess. We tried tubing and skiing a few times, but that became dodgy as well. It was just too dangerous for anything down there. This summer is shaping up the same way.... Anybody know how Smithville is looking?

The Table Rock Lake Annual Shoreline Cleanup Sponsored by Showboat Branson Belle will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008! Everyone is invited to participate and volunteer teams are being coordinated. Community members can make a difference in protecting the environment through volunteering their time for a day. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and a coupon for a free night of camping at any Table Rock Lake Corps of Engineers campground. The goal of this event is to remove as much trash from the lake as possible while involving local residents and visitors who enjoy the Lake. Past events average 900 to 1000 volunteers who clean up nearly 400 miles of shoreline! Costs involved in coordinating this event include providing dumpsters, gloves, snacks, water, and t-shirts for the volunteers. Financial support comes from local businesses and donations and from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. If I'm reading that correctly, TLR went up 6 feet in 2 days' time. My home lake went up nearly 8 feet during the same stretch. THAT is a helluva lot of rain!!!

For those interested, here is a link to the rainfall amounts for this storm. Table Rock sits in southwestern Missouri, just north of the Arkansas border and at Branson. As you can see from the map, though they got hit hard, it could have been MUCH worse:

On the other hand, my home lake is very nearly straight north of TLR. It is about 4 counties up, south and just east of Osceola. It is actually about 10 miles north of Bolivar, but it is tough to see Bolivar on this map (it is just north of the black dot, where the green and yellow begin to mix on the map). Obviously, most of the drainage in the area heads to that reservoir to make my home lake shoot up 8 feet despite not having gotten the worst of this storm.

Good god, if it had taken a direct hit, I'd imagine my home lake would be up 25 feet right now.

Update from another thread in cyberspace:

"They just declared most of Missouri a disaster area. I checked on the marina I use at Table Rock Lake. They said they have been adjusting the mooring cables every 4 hours and are ready to splice more cable on. They also said the walkways are completely under water as is the launch ramps. The other marina I use has had 2 cables snap. Both of them officially open in 2 weeks for boating season and are scrambling to be ready..."

We had it last year. Texoma was up 20 foot.

Lewisville was 15 foot up.
