How was your boating weekend this year?

We spent the entire weekend on the boat. The weather was perfect and the boat ran perfect as well. There is nothing better than spending a day cruising on Lake Michigan in flat conditions. Had several cookouts at the marina, and on the beach, I think I gained 5 pounds  (2 pounds of it was beer)

We had a Great day Saturday on the water -- maybe one of the best ever and with 30 years of boating it is hard to top many other good ones.

We put in the the south end of Lake Worth -- Boynton Beach inlet -- and went out into the ocean off the inlet -- we were looking for a wreck to snorkel on about a mile North of the inlet in 15 feet of water --

Had flying fish streaming off the bow just outside the inlet -- hundreds -- very cool --

Once at the wreck anchored and everyone put in snorkel gear -- in the water there were a couple schools of tarpon (mostly about four feet long) streaming around the wreck--- as well as puffer fish and such -- also cool

Moved to anchor inshore in about six feet of water on shallowest part of wreck I could find so five year old could see the fish -- he did -- more cool stuff

Waded into shore and saw a crab pulling an octupus under water -- lots of great things --

saw Dolphin swinning in the intercoastal on the way back to the boat ramp --

Weather was great -- seas one to two -- wind 5-10 kts

We are continually amazed by the life in salt water compared to fresh water -- and we have been on lakes from the Great lakes to Texas --probably close to a hundred as we are serious trailerboaters ---

WOW -- what a day with wife/son/daughter in law and their two kids --

We left Saturday morning and went to the Grand Haven public ramp by US 31 and went out to Lake Michigan. Once we saw it was flat we went up to Muskegon and into Muskegon Lake, the Capn's hometurf. Stayed there for a while and went out to the big lake again and down to Grand Haven and into the Grand River and Spring Lake. Probably the best weather we have had in the last 10 years. We would have gone out Sunday but the weather was just to dog gone hot so we stayed home in the AC.

Went out Sunday and Monday. Nice flat water on Lake Erie. Even though the water was a little cool(60 degrees), got some tubing and swimming in. Overall a great boating weekend.

We did a late afternoon and nighttime cruise. Most od the "holiday" boaters were pulling out when we were putting in. Cruised thru downtown Tampa to Rick's on the River for some dinner. From there headed back to the bay docking at the Tampa Convention Center. We took the Street Car down to Ybor City and had some icecream at The Marble Slab. Headded back to the boat and arrived back at the boat ramp at about 11 pm.

Avoided the craziness of the holiday crowd and beat the heat.

Home port is Muskegon. We boat anywhere from Grand Haven
to Ludington. Mostly just outside of Muskegon channel.

We spent all day Saturday and Sunday boating on the Muskegon River. The kids tubed for hours and we spent some time on the beach or anchored off shore while swimming. Awesome weekend. Best Memorial Day weekend ever by far.

Monday was a pack up the camper, drive home, and clean the boat day. That was pretty fun too since it turned into a major water fight.

We checked her out on the Manasquan River (NJ coast). First time out....had hoped to get out earlier, but you know how it is.... wonderful day...hung out at the sand bar, and got her up on plane a few times when the traffic lightened up to see that everything was ok after the sleepy winter. Good to get back out there and refresh the launching/retrieving skills.
