Maybe Fire could "Mod" the engines somehow to improve the fuel economy. :D

I/O powered boats with twins, throttles/shifters are usually always at the right of the helm. On inboard powered boats, throttles are on one side, shifters are on the other side.
Same as the 348 helm in this picture.

Nice try capn! My next boat will have electronic throttles.

I'll believe that when I see it. You are easily impressed.

An luxury that adds $10K to the purchase price of a new boat, and not worth that
on a used boat. Sorta like windshield wipers on your headlights, nice to have, but you can live without them.

Here is what Fire should look at this weekend. 2005 340 DA

Just a quick question are the shifters always on the right side on these bigger boats? Aren't they usually on the right side? Just curious.

So Cap'n what gives here. The ad says B3 drives yet it has shifters/throttles on both sides. Ive seen this before, is this just a spec item at order, if your an OB guy and love the seperate throttle/shifters, then they order it this way? :?:

The DTS shift throttle is an awesome addtion, I really like the one lever feature where when selected along with the sync function, both motors are synced and run off of the port shifter as if it were a single. :D

I am sold on DTS. We spend most weekends rafted up with our friends who have an '06 340 with twin 8.1s. $550 to fill it up! He's filled up five times since Memorial Day..and our lakes not that big!

Thats a nice V-Drive boat.

We are set on Four Winns though. I have my eye on both a 318 and a 338 that hopefully the owners will be ready to upgrade when we are!

There is a nice '06 318 that just came up on eBay..asking 85k, but it has the dreaded XDP drives...

Well, maybe by the time you are ready to upgrade (next spring) there will be a used boat that has
the digital control in your price range.

Gordy, funny you mention that, I just bought a digitally controlled device for the wife, she really........... never mind.

I know the feeling. I seriously thought we could get 3-5 years out of our 268, but after our recent Lake Michigan trip I really want twins and a little more beam under me. The only problem is the admiral absolutely loves our 268, so it's going to take some serious convincing to upgrade any time soon :(

Hope the weather is good and I sure wish I could make the trip. This could be our last weekend on the boat with our fall schedule. I'll be thinking of you guys over the weekend and wishing I was there. Send us some pics.

Thanks Capn.

I've been on NOAAs site a lot these past few days. Forecast has gotten worse but should still be manigable. If my friend isn't up for the fireworks we may pass. Following a 380 that has radar makes all the difference!
