So my wife and I have been looking at them. Does anyone out there have them? What brand? Any thoughts concerns or suggestions as to what brand or what to look for?

We have 6 SOSpenders on board. 4 auto, 2 manual. Samantha wears a hybrid, flotation foam with a manual inflation collar if added boyancy is needed.

Just got a Bass Pro circular. They have Auto SOSpenders on sale for $79.88 and Stern Inflata-Belts (manual) for $49.88. Sale is goo through April 1.

I just hate the $4.50 vests. I keep 6 of the cheapies on board for inspection purposes. We always use the inflatables. As a matter of fact, during docking the Admiral and my firstmate have theirs on 90% of the time. PFDs are generally mandatory when locking. Wearing a cheapie during docking I did once and only once.

You know, where we boat (inland lakes) you just never see those, so I've never really thought about it. But the space savings alone (not to mention the added comfort that would make it more likely to wear them) would be worth the cost. I'll have to check them out...

Hi:

We have one, a Mustang Survival. My wife wears it since she's generally on the foredeck during locking & docking etc. Up here in Canada if you're using an inflatable PFD it has to be worn, where as other PFD's can be kept "easily accessible", so you may want to check out local rules if it's going to be your only PFD.

She loves it, its lightweight and doesn't get in the way at all even on very hot days.

Abyone have any preference to a brand? I know Mustang fairly well and I think I would trust them, but what about the other brands? Any thoughts? Looking at all the prices and they seem to be fairly close across the board for the auto inflatables...

Ditto for the US. Inflatables MUST be worn to be counted. Those that can be eaily accessa ble will have it stated on the label, same for the ones that need to be worn. That is why I keep a minimum of the "cheepies" on board.
