Post subject:  Bridge clearance

Where we boat there are several bridges with only a 8' clearance. Our new Vista has a bridge clearance of 7'.

I have 12" of space, but am I wrong to think that I don't want go under a bridge that's that tight? It's an impounded lake so the level fluctuates a little, but not much. And the 8' figure I was given by the marina (I hope) would the highest mark.

Any issues going under these bridges (other than wakes) I need to be concerned about?

We used to have a 30' catalina and at very low tide we could get into and out of a certian river under the bridge. The antenna whip would clank the entire way thru and it was enough to make you think you were gonna ruin your boat. I would meassure the clearance of that bridge myself and then measure my own boat before attempting it. Measure twice then go for it. Thats all you can do. Good luck
