Hi, can anyone recommend a good GPS. I have been looking at the Lowerance LMS 527C iGPS which is a GPS/Fishfinder. I have seen too many which has left me a bit confused as to which one is the better one.
If I bought one from the States would I have to buy the software for Australian coastal waters seperately. I have also seen quite a few on ebay and they seem cheaper to buy from the States.

I have a Lowrance H20 that came with Map Create Cds that allow me to load as much detail as I what for any land or costal area of the states I might travel too. I can also create custom memory cards for special uses. It works great on the road or on the boat but I wish I had a bigger screen for the boat use. It took me right to a cottage at the end of a backwoods private dirt road in Maine and then showed us where all the local stores and restuarants where! Lowrance is very helpful, call or email them to see about CDs for your area. I never liked the Garmins as most require I believe expensive data cards that only cover a small area. Many boaters that stay in only one are still need two cards to cover their crusing range. SOL if you have a vacation farther from home waters. With a unit that works both in the car and on the boat you may feel better about getting a unit with all the bells and wistles as it will be used year round.
