So long story short I have a car battery and a marine battery rigged up in the boat. You think its safe or should I just get a new battery?

Car batteries just aren't built as stout as a marine battery because the car batteries aren't expected to take the pounding a marine battery might. If you have another use for the car battery change it out for a marine. If not, go out and enjoy your boat...replace it when it fails.

Yea thats what I was figuring. I'll just out aside $50 on my next 2 paychecks so I can get 2 new ones. I think I might go with Optima batteries.

Ya, Optima Blue Tops are pretty much the best out there. Never heard of them for $50 new though.
