I have the iPhone 3GS so was happy to see this app. Anyone use the Marine US East version? I am going to get a unit for the boat, but until I do this will give me some sort of secondary backup. (P.S. iPhone guys, AT&T relinquished a bit and you can upgrade for upgrade pricing. Speed is much faster (gave my wife the my old 3G and tested) and the video option is cool, just sucks battery). |

Yes. You had to have purchased the 3G in July, Aug, or Sept of 08. If you did, you get upgrade pricing on a 3GS. I had bought in July, so picked up the 32g 3GS and gave my wife my 3G. I have not paid attention if they extended it further. |

The newest version doesn't seem to be buggy at all. For me it is more of a backup to a backup - I don't think it should be used as a primary chartplotter in most situations. But it has so much to offer as a supplement and the price is definitely right. I have dozens of apps on my iPhone. This is the only one I've purchased. |

Funny, I have never purchased an app either, but was considering this one too! Though I might just get a little chart plotter. |

Looks like the Android version of this is about $14. |

My thoughts: Buy a "cheap" Nuvi for $119.99, download the US central lake maps from Garmin for $99, out the door for under $300 greenbacks, have the best of both worlds on the road and on the water..... am I smokin' crack? There has been a lot of banter on this topic about the iPhone and the Navionics app, and its usefulness, but not much talk about Garmin GPS with the $99 maps downloaded... The US central maps package is compatible with just about every Garmin unit they produce..... Would it be a safe assumption to think that I would have up to date lake information as well as road information with this combination? Does anyone have a Nuvi or E-trex that they have downloaded the Central US maps to? That is they way I am leaning and am curious about your satisfaction with the map download and information that you can get from it...... I like the thought of having a dedicated GPS for the boat that is equally useful for the road........ Feedback definately appreciated!! |

I bit the big bullet and bought a Garmin 546s and with their rebate added the G2Vision maps for $50 (after rebate). So I am $850 into it, but I love my Garmin. I boat in the Gulf of Mexico (Florida Keys later this summer) and all over the west coast of Florida. It is nice having all the channel markers, depths, water temp, speed, compass etc on a very easy to read screen right at my helm. I debated the iPhone app (was a pain trying to pinch and zoom and hold while driving and view in the sun) and the smaller GPS units. I am out in the Gulf and those units would be useless. Just my 2 cents and everyone I boat with has some form of a Garmin GPS Marine unit. |

I actiually have the navionics app for me Android device. Actually very pleased with it so far. Best part of it is keeping track of your boating for the day and downloading to google earth. Want to see how "red" I can make the lake this year. |
