This is my first year with this boat and figure I would treat myself to a niceFF/GPS and went with the Lowrance Elite 7 with total scan transducer. I read the measurements of it,but was still shocked how big it was when it came, lol

The problem is the shape of the transom,as seen here....

I was hoping that I could have put it in the same spot where the old transducer is,but that just isnt going to happen. But looks like if I move is down around 6" or so "between the 2 supporting trailer beams in pic" I held it in place and moved the outdrive around and looks like its out of the way and shouldnt be a problem,Look good to you?

I was thinking on the far outside of the transom but heard that I would see water bubbles or something from the inner transom going through the water first? But if you have any advice from placement to installing,Please let me know before I start drilling
Also Im gonna put 5200 in the freshly screw holes. What should I do with the older screw holes once I remove the old transducer,Fill with marine tex be ok? Thanks!

This is what I did. I put a starboard (nylon) transducer mounting plate on the boat and then screwed the transducers on the board. That way I can change to different transducers and not have unused screw holes. This is the Lowrance system. The side scan transducer is maybe 8 inches long. Lowrance uses 2 transducers in their system.

I mounted the one on my Sundowner here:

I have the Garmin 53DV with DownVU transducer. 99.9% of the time it's fine unless you're really moving and it's really choppy...
