I read somewhere that underwater lights increase fouling, as they attract the larvae of sea creatures (to them, light = a good place to anchor themselves and get nutrients). I certainly get a lot more fouling on the upper side of my trim tabs, virtually none on the underside

I agree with the others....
I have 4 underwater lights on my 378 and they are on a separate switch. Incidentally, I also have LED lighting on the transom sides and separate lights (4) on the swim platform all wired to separate switches....all works wonderfully. A separate switch is the only way to go....hope this helps!

I completed another LED project this weekend. Actually 2 LED projects. I installed a 2 LED under water light assembly. I also installed some LED reverse lights on the trailer, for my dark narrow driveway. The under water lights I got were from http://www.boatpluglight.com. They screw into the drain hole, just like some of the other ones out there. The set up was 165$. I didn't want to spend 300$ + on other lights I saw, or the cheapo 40$ ones. I am very happy with the results, tried them out last night. here are some pics.

The lights I used for the reverse lights were just some LED's I bought off of amazon. Then I just made some brackets out of sheet metal for them.
