I have a 1996 four winns horizon 170 fish and ski and I want to get my 12/24v trolling motor hooked up but am not familiar with how to hook up the second battery.

I see 2 groupings of cables, one group has a negative black cable along with a white cable and the other grouping has a positive red cable and 2 white. I'm sure this is related to chaining the batteries to get to 24 and 36 volts. I also see a box that may be a combiner but I don't see a name brand or model number on it.

Thought I should ask the experts as I do not want to short anything out.

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Are the batteries in parallel or series?
