While vacationing on Lake Tahoe over the 4th of July, my Hydraulic trim system quit working.........on the water I traced it down to a blown fuse located at the Hydraulic trim pump........it would blow 10 amp fuse after fuse........

So I did a work around and bypassed the trim switch for the remainder for the trip.....I used a couple of alligator clip leads from the pump to the battery......while not convenient it worked fine........

Now that I'm home, today I set out to find the short........in the pics below you can see the red wire that has rubbed through the insulation......

Here's my question.......is there a correct way that this trim switch wiring harness s supposed to route through the shifter/ throttle handle so this does not happen again?

I had one of those; I can't remember the exact cable routing, but it curled around the central "spindle". Also there was a flexible thin plastic disc that held the cable in place on the spindle; mine split ( as I expect most will have) so I used duct tape to repair it, meaning to cut out a piece of suitable plastic later; I never did, the duct tape was probably a longer term forever flexible solution !
