I have a Guest 2620 2 bank charger.

I hooked up the shore power for the first time and see no lights on at the charger.

I pulled the breaker panel and everything looks ok. The fridge on the same breaker works on 110.

I pulled the selector switch and pulled the glass fuses to check for power. There is just over 6 volts coming off the charger to the batteries.

I think the charger is finished but I would love to hear some thoughts.

Look and see if the charger has a fuse in it. Most do

I fuse would give you 0 volts.

Time to buy a new charger.

My bet would be on a needing a new charger as well. Our Guest charger failed two seasons ago and if my memory serves me correctly I believe if you get ten years out of them you're doing well.

Ok new charger it is for me.

New question. The power supply for the existing charger has a fancy connector to connect into the 110 supply from the breaker. It looks the same as, or similar to the connectors in the panel. What are these connectors called, do the typically come with a marine charger, and if not where can I find one?

I guess that was 3 questions in one.

I wouldn't bother with them, I believe that most chargers allow you to connect wires directly with the charger with more standard ring terminals unlike the Guest charger. The only disadvantage is that you may lose cord lenghth by not doing the same type of installation that Four Winns did with the Guest. I barely had enough wire left to connect my Promariner.

Yep that's the fancy one.

I am likely going to go with the pro-mariner which comes which comes with a typical 110v plug. Like you said Four Winns didn't leave much wire to mess with on the boat side.

I am expecting my new VHF radio tomorrow so I will sneak out to the boat to install it and look to see if I can change the connector for the charger on the boat side. It seems like the simpler solution for sure.


How do you like the pro-mariner?

Anyone have experience with Minkota? They are my second choice for a charger.

Going with a Noco Genius Gen2 20 amp charger. I didn't know they made an onboard style charger so I am pretty excited. I have a Noco Genius 4 bank charger setup in my house and I really like it.

Saw good prices on Amazon, but I am going to check with the guy who sold me the last one first.

Just cut the wire and crimp on new ring or spade connectors and connect to the new charger.

My 99 268 recently had similar issue. 15A glass fuses were corroded. They can only be accessed by removing battery selector switch. Worth a look. Good luck.

My 2009 boat also had charger fuses behind the battery switch ; a totally stupid awkward place to have put them. At least they had moved to blade fuses by then rather than the glass tube type.

I moved the connections for the charger to the charge splitter. with some engine compartment mounted breakers instead of fuses ( I know some believe fuses are better). The total wiring length charger-breaker-splitter is less than the original charger-fuse-battery switch terminal length.

I have the ProTech I 20 amp, which for some reason has been discontinued. It's been working fine for two years.

Installed the Noco charger and very happy with it so far.

Changed female plug on the boat side to a typical 110/120v and it was much easier than it looked like it was going to be. I gave the wire a tug and easily got another 2' of slack.
