My xintex M1 fuel detector buzzes a few seconds after I turn the batteries on meaning it detects fuel. I replaced the sensor the other day and after I turned the battery on it started buzzing again. I ducked down into the bilge right where the detector is located a few times and I cannot smell gas. I do not see any signs of leaks or anything. Is it possible the sensor is more sensitive than I can smell or is my gauge bad?
The system did the same exact thing 2 years ago when I bought the boat and the marina "fixed" it. I know they replaced the sensor because the date on the sensor aligns to the correct time period but I don't know if they replaced the dash gauge.

Additional info: I had bad batteries a few weeks ago and one exploded and blew acid all over. I cleaned it up washed everything throughly but I am thinking maybe a little residual laying around and the detector is picking it up??

When you power up, the indicator (red and green light) should come on indicating a warm up. The buzzer/horn shouldn't come on.
Before turning on power next time open the engine hatch for a few seconds. I bet it doesn't come on.
Even if you don't smell or see fuel the sensor is that sensitive. Engine bays will collect some fumes from just setting.
The low end of the explosion limit (10-20% of lel) vapor will make the red light come on. If it lasts (fumes) for longer then 10 sec. the buzzer will sound

When I installed the new sensor I had the hatch open for I would say 45 minutes working on other things and I was moving around in the bay so some air was circulated a little from hoping in and out.
I will try bringing a fan and blow some air in the bilge for a little bit before I turn anything on and see if it buzzes. I will smell again first for fumes before turning the fan on and not put the fan in the bilge but blow the air from on deck...

Just open the engine hatch. That and the blower should be enough
Leave the battery switch (perko) on so the Xintex doesn't have to reset itself. The ignition doesn't need to be turned on for the alarm to go off

The MR-1 can detect high concentrations of battery hydrogen or engine exhaust. (overcharging of batteries)

These things also get contaminated very easily, even water will cause them to false alarm. I had this happen when I had a cooling hose pop off the P/S cooler 2 years ago. Just installed it too!!
Replace the sender if it keeps falsing.

The brand new sensor is doing the same thing. Even after working in the bilge and having the hatch open for about 45 minutes it still buzzed when I turned it on.
This weekend I will try to air it out better before I turn it on and see if I need to replace the gauge unit as well. I will also check the connections behind the dash but last I looked at the fuse block everything was clean.

My M-1 xintex started acting up this year as well. I installed it last year. I wired mine into an open acc. switch. When I turn the unit on initially after sitting for a long period, I will get a warning alarm and red light. After letting it go for 10 -15 seconds, I switch it off, then turn it back on. At this point, green light comes on and no warning alarm. I have not had a chance to try this sequence right after cruising so not sure if this will only occur on start-up after it has been sitting. I did replace the sending unit the same day this occurred and did not get an alarm. Another note, when I push the test mode button, red light comes on and alarm will sound after 10 secs. and then I can mute the alarm. Green light comes back on. According to manual, unit passes the test. I'm still a little hesitant to say it is working properly. Further testing will follow when I return to the boat.

The way mine works:
I get on the boat, open the engine hatch and sniff. Then turn on the blower. After 4 min I turn the key on, the green light goes on, then the red goes on for a few sec and then goes off.

So yesterday I completely aired out the bilge. I was installing my new charger and it was open for a few hours with a slight wind blowing. I turned the batteries on, the green and red light came on then it buzzed. I pushed the mute button and the red light went out immediately.
I just called fireboy and they believe it is a bad dash gauge but said to double check the pins on the back and verify good connections. They said pushing the mute button should not turn the red light off, it just mutes the buzzer.
So I will buy a new unit, check the connections and replace it if they don't appear to be the issue.. Sucks because I have to buy the kit which comes with a sensor, I guess I will have spare now.

Just a follow up. I bought a new gauge and installed it. It was very easy to install and it seems to be working properly.
