Good Afternoon,

I am trying to figure out my my speedo is not working on my 2001 Horizon 5.7 - Bravo 1. I am running the standard gauges from the factory. When I bought the boat the speedo never worked. I clean the whole out of the outdrive and now I have water going through a tube that runs to where my throttle lever is. I have no idea where it connects too. I have pulled out the dash looking for a connection and cant seem to put my finger on where it goes. Can anyone help. There is no paddle wheel on my boat FYI. I have three shops look at it and they cant seem to figure this on out either ?

Thanks for all the help !

Behind the speedometer. Water pressure is what operates the gauge.
The tubing end just plugs into the back of the speedometer.

There is just a hole. I would think there would be a nipple that the hose would plug on too. So the water goes right the back of the electric gauges ? Doesn't make much sense to me but I will try it.

Yes, there would be a nipple on the back of the gage (assuming you have a conventional gage). Maybe yours broke off?

If you have the cluster gages, maybe you are supposed to have a paddlewheel, but it was removed?

2001, a changeover period.

What sort of gauges are they?

A one piece VDO automotive type one: In which case there needs to be a paddle wheel.

Separate Faria gauges?

OEM; a pitot tube and water pressure driven speedo.

Four Winns Faria replacement for the VDO; speedo input is paddle wheel driven

Bravo One drives have the Speedo pick up in the drive. There is a hole on the bottom half of the drive in the middle, it is often clogged with sand, dirt etc.
You can try a small drill bit turning it with your fingers. There will be no Pitot tube or paddlewheel.

Ok Thats what I was told but I did get some dirt out of it but it is still not working. The strange part is i have a black tube up by my gauges that if i take the clip off of water comes pouring out under way.

Well, if water pours out underway, then it is not clogged. You don't need much flow at all, since it measures pressure not flow.

If you block that tube with your finger while cruising at 30-40mph, you should be able to get some noticeable pressure (at least like a squirt gun... 5psi or more). If there is a split in the line somewhere, then your finger would block the flow, and spray out where the split is.

You also mentioned you have the automotive type cluster. I don't know which type uses a pitot tube, but apparently yours does (they wouldn't run that tube for no reason). If you are getting some pressure from the tube, then the only thing remaining is a failed speedometer.

ps. You can test the speedometer by connecting a small hose to it and blowing into it by mouth. Blowing hard might register 15-30 mph

The problem is no one can tell me where it connects too. I have water in the tube coming from the out drive but no way to connect it to my gauges
