My depth gauge doesnt seem to be reading the depths correct? Is there a way to reset or recaliberate it? Seems to me it showing a shallow reading.

Hi Peterman,

I had the same issue with mine for the first couple months that we had the boat. Took it in a few times and they always said it is working correctly. After talking to the mec a couple more times he just said they would replace the sender unit. Ever since then we have had no problems. Might just be a bad unit.

Also, he did suggest as well as some have on this forum to try a pretty heavy duty cleaner on the window on the bottom of the boat. Any film will cause an incorrect reading.

Good luck!

Is there actually any way to test a transducer without being in the water? I have the same issue with my Faria transducer and have for the last couple of years.
I just use my fishfinder since I am typically looking for bottom contours to try to find good spots for diving, but would like to have the in-dash depth gauge working also.

I'm pretty sure it depends on contact with water to work properly.
