Guys - although both of these items are not must have type things, its important to me that everything works as it should on my boat. I have not jumped in heavy on either of these things, and it could be a very simple fix on either/both of them.

1. The tank monitor gauge does not light up at all when you push the buttons to check the freshwater and blackwater tanks. Of course, the tank monitor gauge IS switched on at the power panel. Since I get not action on either one, I am assuming the gauge is probably bad or perhaps has a loose/missing connection. Assuming that its connected properly and still not working, how do I begin to test the gauge?

2. On my power panel, there is a switch to turn on the lights that light up the power panel labels. Again, this has no action. I did notice the other day that a few of the bulbs appeared burned out when I was getting the stereo installed. It could be just that simple...ALL of the bulbs could be burned out I suppose? Is there a fuse hidden in the spaghetti for the panel lights?

I cant comment on the panel lights, but if the tank monitor is the xintex, like my 258 and 268 were, I gave up on them. I could never keep them working. Like you I like to have everything working, but I eventually gave up and just gauged by usage and errored on the side of pumping more often.

There is a manufacturer that makes a level gauge that has a "foil tape" on the outside of the tank, that i was going to try but never did. I couldn't find them in a quick search that I did. Probably Cap'n knows.

I have been combing through the online parts manuals to try to determine which type of bulb is used to backlight the power panel...cant find anything!

Anybody know what bulb type/number is used?

Pull the panel and then the bulb, it should be easier to decipher what to replace it with then.

On the tank level indicators, mine were acting up when I bought my 268.

I replaced them with the new ones from Xintex and they work perfectly. They are a different design, and I was VERY happy to see they were working still when I picked my boat up from storage.

Quick plug and play install.

Well, I have yet to tackle the tank monitor, but I have gotten the lights for my panel up and running.

The bulb is a GE53 and there are about 22 or 23 of them. I bought 2 10 packs and still need a few more. I am just happy to see them working. It amazes me that EVERY SINGLE one of them is burned out at one time.

I don't have many burnt out GE53 bulbs yet, but they certainly suck a lot of power when you switch on the backlighting for the electric panel. I am going to try LED instead, such as at this link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/20x-Super-White ... 2719937208

I'll let you know my results.
