I had a problem starting Sunday evening heading out to spend the night. When I hit the start switch the starter just clicked. I spent the morning trouble shooting batteries and found out that my battery isolator is apparently bad. I was able to wire around the isolator and the boat started fine. Now I need to find the part number for the isolator to order a new one. I had checked this system last year and I thought I had the model and part number of the isolator but now that I'm home I can't locate it. Does anyone know what model is on a Vista 278. I of course have two batteries and one alternator. I was thinking it might be a Marinco 2530 but I'm not sure and I wonder if there isn't a better option out there. I've had electrical issues in the past and I wonder if this isolator hasn't been malfunctioning prior to this failure. Is this a good time to add a third battery?

Thanks,

I see no one has answered you. check this link out: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=n ... 58&bih=806

I have always used a combiner, never had a isolator. The isolator is a better option, but the price is a lot higher. I will say, that the the 2 combiners I have at a cost of $60 each has worked for me, on a 3 bank system. But it times, I had to turn them off & on. Were with the isolator, it is all automatically done for you.

Thanks Paul, Your link allowed me to identify the isolator. Now to install it and see if that solves the problems I have had.
