Someone at my marina mentioned to remove electronics before the winter. I really didn't think much of it, but I did check the radar display storage temperatures and it's -10 to +50. We will see -25 hear so I'm wondering if anyone does this? I know the radio is fine, same as a car - but VHF and radar/GPS displays? Seems odd they would design this stuff to be pulled, re-installed every year...but who knows.

Steve.

Would you attempt to remove your display in your car for winter if you have a factory Nav unit? Or a DVD screen ?

The reason "someone" mentioned removing electronics is to prevent theft of the units. GPS, Chartplotter, LCD TV, is just fine to leave in the boat over the winter. Unless you are worried about theft only.

Thanks, that's what I figured - I'm not worried about theft. Being that boats, and hence chartplotters are new to me I wanted to make sure before I had to replace a very expensive display.
