Post subject:  Factory bimini hardware problem

Hi, I have an 07 210SS with the factory tower and integrated factory bimini. A thumbscrew part seized, and I had to destroy it to get it out, and now am having a hell of a time finding a replacement.
The part is a black T-handle thumbscrew that connects a bimini arm to a billet clamp that goes around the tower post. The thread is 1/4-20, and it's hard to tell how long it was since the bolt has been removed from the handle, but probably near 1.5" total length handle/protruding screw, or 1" for the exposed screw.
I have checked everywhere, including the dealer (who said FW makes their own bolts...) but they can't supply the part.
McMaster has a similar one, but it appears too short. Can anyone help?

If you can post a pic, I may be able to help. look at my sig for pics of mine, as well as a bimini post upgrade I performed last summer.

Take a look at this thread as well. I followed Sushi's lead and have not had a single problem with my bimini attachments since then

Walt, in your pic of the ultra-handsome dude in the sunglasses driving the boat...follow the tower tube behind him up, and it's the black plastic t handled knob that secures the bimini pole to the round clamp that goes around the tower.

I can't believe this is so difficult to find. The one Mcmaster has looks close, just looks a little short, and I have no way to tell how long it's supposed to be as I ripped the bolt from the knob on the old one, and the boat is stored an hour away so I can't pull the other one to measure!

I'll be working on it this weekend, so I'll try to get you the detailed measurements.

It just doesn't seem to be a "perfect" size, Even trying all my std and metric taps and dies, nothing was exactly "it". Closest is 1/4 x 20 w/ 3/4" of thread, then 3/4" wing-nut for 1 1/2" total.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Walt, much appreciated. Taylor Made got back to me and said they'd send me one. They don't have a replacement on their site that matches, so we'll see what happens.

So I sent Taylor Made a pic of the missing knob and they said they'd send one out. Well, it arrived, and it's nowhere near what mine is. It doesn't even fit! Seriously, how hard should this be?
