Hey gang. About to order a custom made Bimini top for my h180ss. Looking for input as to the height. I don't want it to look high and stupid. I'm thinking 60 inches (crouch height). Some guys say 72 inches from the floor of the boat to the top but I think that would be too high. Thoughts?

Depends on the size of the boat, and if you want to be able to drive standing up. On my H240, I can stand comfortably under the Bimini, and I am 6'1". So I would say mine is around 76" or more.

Since this is for your H180ss, I don't think you could drive standing up, so you might be right thinking 60-65". What is your windshield height...I think I would go at least 15" higher than the windshield at the center of the boat. Remember that whatever height they sell it as...that is probably the height at the centerline.

Another thought: You can make a tall bimini shorter easier than the other way around.

i am 6'2" and I have mine rubbing my head.. as for the height you can see my signature.. and i ordered like a 40' top i think.. so take your mounting location into account.. if you tell them 72" your struts will be stupid tall

I installed a bimini from scratch on a 17' bowrider. what I did was buy the taller frame and spent a while with my wife in the driveway trying to decide how tall it should be and look okay. I had her hold the frame in place and look from all angles and try different hieghts. I was able to cut the tubes to size if I needed. I ended up leaving the taller size and I was able to stand in the boat. I am 6'1" and it looked fine. It was also the larger size 6' long bimini so the proportions were better, it cover the whole cockpit and was perfect. It was also grey so it wasn't as visible as a red or green.
