Any recommendations for attaching the reg numbers to an inflatable? Anyone try boatnumberplate.com or HypaTac lettering?

My father in law made teak boards that were attached to his dingy via velcro straps. He mounted vinyl letters and the registration to the teak boards.

Never tried them, but curiosity made me look up that http://www.boatnumberplate.com

Looks like a good system:
They have instructions for PVC boats: http://j.b5z.net/i/u/2161213/i/bnp_install_instruct_PVC.htm
and also for Hypalon Boats: http://j.b5z.net/i/u/2161213/i/Hypalon.htm

I traced out the numbers and used a marker. It was a lot easier.

You can screw them on with stainless steel screws so they don't corrode.

Though the PVC? Good idea.

I have tried stenciling the numbers. Its a pain and comes out terrible so I bought this on my latest inflatable and it looks 100% better. You buy this kit and it basically gives you an access code where you go online and create your "plate" They ship it out to you with the numbers on it and you glue it on. Easy... except gluing is an art, I need to touch mine up. the edges didn't get enough glue.
You can choose different colors and for Hypalon or PVC.

Yes. An even better method of attachment is using toggle bolts!

I was thinking something more like this. Easier to remove if I sell it.

Thanks Fire. That looked like the best option to me.

Oh that's a great idea. Just fill the holes with toothpaste it works just like spackle.

I have used boatnumberplate for my last two inflatables and LOVE IT!!

Up in my area, West Marine does not carry nor do they advocate using any kind of "plate" that hangs off - the law is clear that the registration numbers have to be permanently attached, and having a plate that flops off the side attached by hooks or pieces of line, are quickly removable, and thus not meeting the legal requirements. So they dont even sell that kind of stuff.

Yeah I noticed the "permanently" part of the rules as well. I would just stencil them on with paint but I want something that looks a little better than that.
Got my MC numbers for the dink today, so I'll be ordering boatnumberplate tonight.
