I assume you just tow with either the bow and cockpit covers or the trailering cover. It looks like in your first pictures you have some extra supports under the bow section. Is that correct?

If I'm trailering any long distance, more then a few miles, I always use the trailering cover. The trailering cover comes with an anti-pooling support system. The cover has a tag on it that recommends removing the "anti-pooling supports" while towing, which I do because the downforce of the wind actually will put alot of stress on the cover especially where that front support pole is.

I started a new post, but was just curious what everyone's thoughts were on needing an additional cover for trailering if you already have the FW bow and cockpit covers. I guess I'm wondering what the point of FW bow and cockpit covers are if you still need a different cover for trailering? Do the custom FW 2-piece covers keep out rain, leaves, etc? Seems like a big one piece cover that goes all the way over the boat would work best against rain, sun and whatever else wants in the boat.

The bow & cockpit covers are great for use at the marina and for normal parked conditions. It does protect the inside from rain, leaves, and bird dung. However, FW does not recommend towing with the covers on for several reasons, such as shredding the canvas, rubbing the gel coat, covers fly away in transit. Trailering covers are more expensive than mooring covers but from what I learned, the added cost is well worth it. IMHO

Members of this site, local boaters and dealer, and of course, Terry from Winninsquam Marine, have convinced me that if you intend to tow a boat covered, and if you can afford the trailoring cover, then by all means buy it.

So...I will get the fitted trailering cover like Impulse has for these several reasons mentioned above and below:

1. Protection against the elements while parked in Socal sunshine
2. Protection from roadway rocks, debris, bugs, and loose seats, cushions, etc, while towing 4 hours to the Colorado River
3. Protections against looky-loos while parked in Laughlin casino parking lots when I am "Lake Mohave" bound
4. It looks fantanstic on a boat "See Impulse for further proof"
5. Is it worth spending the money?....To me it is. How much are replacement cushions, seats, windshield...shall I go on.
6. Sense of mind? PRICELESS!!!

My 2 cents!

I use my snap-on's (Bow and cockpit covers) when I want to get in and out in a hurry. Generally, when moored overnight, or just putting away at home until the next day's activities. The trailer cover gets the most mileage and use. It's also more durable, but more time consuming to get into.

Having a brief experience with my bow and cockpit covers I cant wait for my trailering cover to arrive. While I love the way the bow and cockpit cover are integrated, we had some heavy rains the last couple of days and the carpet in the cockpit was wet. Water leaks in somewhere at the bow cockpit junction. Not a lot but more than I would like. The only concern I have for the trailering cover is the breathe ability. I doubt much water will get in but not much will get out either. I worry about mold and mildew. Any experienced users have any comments on that aspect?

lots of good info from you guys on the types and uses of the covers out there, i'm in the market for a trailering type cover for my h190 but am unsure how these covers are held in place? if by factory snaps, then i guess i would have to add a few (dozen)? of these since i have none right now- bk

The new factory cover like the one posted in this thread by impulse has no snaps. It fits around the rubrail and is tightened up by a ratcheting mechanisim in the back.

If you are moving, the boat's built-in ventilation system would take care of this. You could always tow/park it with a bucket of that moisture absorber in it. A lot of people use it for winterization, but it would be good for peace of mind if you're going to park it outdoors in the spring/summer rains.

We keep our boat in our garage. I have never kept my covers on the boat during the week when it sits...only during winter storage. I only have the bow and cockpit covers for now. On the once or twice I have left the boat hooked up and in front of the house overnight (like holiday weekends), I havent used them either.

Am I sinning?

I just got my cover from boatcovers.com. Perfect fit!! even over the added platform. BUT IT DOES NOT COME WITH STRAPS. why in the heck would you sell a cover and no straps to hold it down?

Jole - Did you call them up? Maybe they forgot to pack the straps? Otherwise that makes no sense.

Oh I called, they are not included in purchase. I asked why they dont make mention of that, being that its a vital part of the tie down process. All they could say was they sell them for 35 a 20 pack. So I order a roll of red strap (100') and a bag of 25 buckles from another company for $12.
