I am new to the Four Winns boating family and this website. This topic probably has been covered in the past but I could not find the answer I was looking for. So here it goes.

I am looking to purchase a mooring/boat cover for my 2008 240 Horizon. Although I do not have a wakeboard tower yet, I hope to have one before next summer.

I live in Southern California, and as you know, it hardly ever rains. We do however, get our fair share of 100 + degree days and smog.

I purchased a Sterns Storm Pro cover from Trout Pro Shops but the straps weren't long enough to fasten to the trailer properly. That being said, the cover did not look good at all on my boat.

I am looking at suggestions for a cover manufacturer that is fitted for the boat, material, and a store to purchase it from. I am also looking for any other suggestions that you may have. Thanks in advance!

Jim, welcome to the board and to the 240 - you'll love it! I plan on purchasing a FW trailering cover in the next year, but don't know if that would be suitable for you or if it would work with the tower. It's a new option.

Local auto upholstery places can often make stuff like this as well, and do an excellent job of it at prices unmatched by anyone else. Just another thought.

Sounds like either of the FW Mooring or trailering covers would fit your needs, it'd be easy enough to order one through your dealer. I'm very happy with my mooring cover. BTW - I secure it to my trailer or my boat lift with bungie cords. Don't think I'd want to trailer with the mooring cover on, at least not at highway speeds.

Definitely not. No matter how well you think you've tied it down there's still going to be flapping. And any time the rough canvas flaps against the boat you're looking at potential problems. Either from scratching the boat or shredding the canvas (or both!). Both are too expensive to justify the risk.

Thanks for the comments. I haven't yet posted my boat pic but I wanted a cover to match. I currently have black bow and cockpit covers. FW covers probably fits the best but I was hoping to save a few bucks without sacrificing quality. As I mentioned before, I do not live in a climate where severe weather is a year round problem. What do you think of the covers from Overton's, Westland, ENDURACover, etc.


P.S. Too think, after all these years, I'm still only a Tadpole!

Where is SoCal are you? There is a good canvas store in Escondido - Bienz Marine Canvas.

I too recomend you do not buy an off the shelf one-size fits many, or catalog brand. I recomend you take your boat to a canvas shop and have one custom made. This is the only way you will get what your asking for, and most canvas shops are not much more than the cheap covers out of a catalog.

My local shop offers many grades of canvas upto the sunbrella brand that four winns uses for bimmini and cockpit covers.

Hi, Jim welcome to the site I bought the new Mooring/Trailering cover when I got my boat and I'm very happy with it. Putting it on and removing it is a snap. Trailering with it is also good it does push in in the bow some, but not too bad. The Four Winn's cover is also of very good quality and fits very well. The picture shows the first one they sent which was for the lower windshield. The right cover fits below the rub rail the entire length of the boat and is very snug when ratcheted tight.

I bought my boat from a Las Vegas dealer who going out of business. Got a great deal on the purchase but accessories were very limited due to the liquidation. Now that fall/winter is fast approaching, it's time to cover the boat and wait until spring to do it all over again. Can't wait!

I am also new,I have been reading and enjoying the forum about two months.I have recently purchased a 2007 H180 with about 2hrs on it.I have just recieved a mooring cover from boatcovers.com.The cover fits very well,with extra material and reinforcement around the windshied.This company makes the covers to order for yor make and model.I am not sure about the wake tower I would talk to them.Sorry I can't supply any pictures I have the boat shoe horned into my garage for the winter.

I actually got mine from Overtons for my 97 205 sundowner. I forgot which one tho. It has held up for several seasons now. The only drawback with just a moring cover is the extra sun exposure. Now along with my full cover I have starting using one of those 10x20 car canopies. I have seen some canopies that are 12x24. I have even attached some floesant lights so I can work on the boat at night. Just remember with these bolt or use self taping screws to hold every joint and peice together. Dont forget to bolt it to the ground or the wind will make it fly for miles.

The Four Winns trailering cover is one of the best covers you can get.

It'll be cheaper than a custom cover - and same great quality.

One peice, easy to put on/take off, and you can trailer with it!

Check with your dealer. It's a VERY nice cover.
