Hey everyone. I am wanting to order some custom flags for the boat. One for my boat and one for a friend. Various searches on the web haven't gotten me anywhere. Can anyone recommend a website, etc? I probably want some kind of nautical design and to add some custom text like boat name and home port. Thanks in advance.

David

I am not sure if they have flags, but I have ordered custom koozies from Oriental Trading Company. Also, there are tons of places that sell promotional merchandise specially imprinted for business advertising. You may look at that.

You might think about making your own flag. Buy pole and mount, get some fabric in the background color desired, then print the designs and text you want using the iron on transfer paper available at office supply stores. I've used that stuff for t-sirts, hats, even luggage - works surprisingly well.

It might be easier to order a flag you like and then take it to an embroidery shop - they can do just about anything you want and it won't cost much. Most of the custom ordering places probably require a higher quantity than you need.

http://www.Sailbaglady.com made one for us. She did the design at the Annapolis boat show and then shipped it to us.

She also carries some VERY nice poles and clamps. Do not just get a cheapie from West Marine as those tend to bend or, worse, can't be clamped tight enough to the rail (and scratch it).

Thanks Bill. Looks like I need to get busy designing something and submit it. If I can I'll try and post something here for feedback.

Talk with her on the phone, she's got a bundle of ideas. The online gallery doesn't have anywhere near the number of samples as the book she uses at the shows. Our flag is packed away otherwise I'd post a picture. But we took her a picture of our transom artwork and she came up with a flag with a similar look.

I started this mostly because I want to give a boating friend of mine a creative gift. He's got a unique graphic as part of his boat name and I was hoping to use that as part of the flag design. I'm trying to get him to send me the clipart of his graphic without giving away what I'm doing. While I'm at it I'll probably have her make us one for our boat and my wife liked the idea also, so I was encouraged to continue persuing this.

If you can't get the graphic, maybe try a digital pic?
