The beauty is that this purchase carries over to the new boat! And you send the old stuff with the old boat when it comes time.

Those covers at times can create scratches. Using just the fender is a better idea IMO.

I'd sure like to hear a real world (aka - more than a 5% chance of happening) example of when a fender cover scratched a boat.

CincyAquaholic (may his Four Winns soul rest in peace) had a 260 with a black classic color band. His bare fenders did a great deal of wear on the finish after a full weekend of rafting up. He polished it back out, put the covers on, and had very little problems after that. I suppose that, if you were to let the covers get filthy, they could present the same problem, but overall, they are definitely worth it.

Why bother with fenders? Repair the scratches later!

You, my friend, must get fenders ASAP. Gelcoat work is expensive, and time consuming. Why not just prevent them?

I didn't see this coming....

Overtons was running low on certain colors of fenders, of course not the red, orange or yellow though. They only shipped 5 sand fenders to me. No phone call, or anything, to say I was being shipped less than I ordered. I've got the covers and lines coming from a different vendor, enough for six fenders.

What do I do? Pressure Overtons to do something? Bite the bullet and just order a sixth fender for $40 shipped?

firecadet,
Overton's did the same thing to me on white Taylormades they had a good sale price on. They short shipped me with no explanation. When I called a week later, they said sorry, we're not getting more anytime soon. I have had good luck with wholesalemarine.com since then. They even threw in a free shipping voucher last time for my next order.

If you ordered 6, you ordered 6. If they send you 5, that's great - they should send you #6 when back in stock.

If they don't plan on stocking these, then return all of them. That'll get their attention.

And yes, they should pay for return shipping as you ordered a package of 6 of them. 5 doesn't cut the mustard.

If they didn't have 6 in stock for that price, they shouldn't have allowed you to order 6 of them. Regardless of whether it's 1,2,3,4,5, or 22.

I agree with Cougar. Just out of curiosity, did the packing slip indicate back order for the one item that wasn't shipped, or did you receive a credit? To my mind a call to customer service is in order, you ordered 6, and paid for 6, they should ship you another at no additional cost, and possibly upgrade the shipping.

I was charged for 5. On the shipping email I got, it says only 5 shipped, and thats what I was charged for. But they show I ordered 6, and one was cancelled.

Maybe Overton's is sliping. They use to be great to deal with. Sounds pretty shady.

Well I've got everything in, except for one G5 Fender. Here's how the sand G5s, black Elite fender covers, and black Fender Loc lines look on my 225......I wonder how they will look on my 268 ;)

They look good! We're hoping to bring ours back from Norris Lake this weekend and looking to be out on Brookville. Gotta get together soon.
