My bimini was damaged when I bought the boat and was "fixed". I'm going to have to finish fixing it myself. One of the support poles snaps into this bracket by the windshield.

Does anyone else have this type of bracket?
If so, what type of end is on the pole and what type of clip holds it in place?

Thanks,

I found out the answer. Had to go to a canvas shop to buy some pieces of bimini pole. He said they were an uncommon part. Pole end had a round plastic knob that snaps into the bracket. It fits into the bimini pole and the knob is at a 90 deg. angle.

A quick search didn't show any for sale so I will use a commonly available windshield angle bracket that uses a normal eye end. Both those parts are available and are pretty cheap at less than $4 for a set of two for each part (plastic).

The first thing to break, on our 97 245 Sundowner, were the windshield mounted clips for the canvas bows. I could only see this being a recurring issue, so I replaced all of the hardware with metal parts. I went to West Marine and got the mounting brackets and the matching pole-ends to convert the mounts. I did have to drill through the windshield frame to securely mount the parts, but I used stainless hardware with tapered heads .... looked original ... and was never going to break again. Plus, it allowed the bows to be laid all the way back into the cockpit, when the cockpit cover was on (did not have cut-outs for the bows). I replaced all of the plasic junk hardware & mount points with the metal parts.

I'll have to stick to plastic this year and upgrade to metal next year. I've already gotten the "This new boat better not be a hole to throw our money into" speech this week.

As I recall .... when I was researching repairing mine, I think the plastic hardware was standard Taylor stuff. Since I decided to upgrade to the metal hardware, which was Taylor, I don't remember exactly what the plastic parts were.
