I'm looking at adding a ballast to improve my wake.
I know there have been some discussion before about ballasts here and on some wake boarding forums... I'm curious to know what some of you would buy and where you'd put the ballast?

Thanks,

Sand bags under the front cushions or get a bigger wife for the bow center seat. You pick. :D

I put a fat sac in the ski locker. Works great.

You guys are going about this all wrong.

More beer in the cooler means more weight. The only thing about this that I have discovered is that the wake gets smaller and smaller as the day goes on.

Sometimes I feel like I have to do all the thinking on this board....geez!

If you don't get rid of the "used" beer your weight will stay about the same. That gets harder and harder to do the more you have though

I thought of doing the same thing under the front seats. Crunching the numbers, I calculated I could only gain about 250 lbs total with sacs under the cushions. That didn't justify the cost and sacrifice in storageto me. I'm sure the ski locker could carry more, but that is also well used in my boat. I also board via the bow frequently, making the area under the bow filler cushions less likely to get used.

Sorry.

I put a 600 lb sac between the bow seats on the floor. I fill/empty it as needed and stow it away when not used. Don't fill it until it is time to ride, so it doesn't interfere with boarding from the bow or anything like that.

You get the best wake out of these hulls by starting with ballast weight as far forward as you can get it and then trimming the motor. As you add weight, move toward the stern.

I don't see anything less than 400 lbs really making all that much of a difference.

So far I'm thinking of buying a Fat Sac tube (for the ski locker) [370lbs +] with 2 Fat Sac sides under the bow seats [260lbs + each]
I'll use the Tsunami Pump to fill.

I should be able to move the 'tube' sac to adjust the wake.

Sound about right?
