I want to get a few accessories for my boat. The dealer charges ridiculous prices. Here are some examples:
- mounting bracket for table: $100 just for the base part, not the table or pole!
- swim platform mat $500 for the gray rubber one. I didn't want to ask about the fake teak one.
- mooring cover $800

Is there a dealer somewhere that I can get some of these items for a lower price?

Check with Winnisaquam Marine

But...let me tell you...I have the grey mat on my platform....it gets hotter than hell. In the off season, I am going to have a carpet version made.

Thanks! I was wondering about that! Makes the flexiteak look even better!

Be careful with the flexiteak also. I have seen on several forums people complaining of how hot it gets. Check with Brett248Vista who had it installed and can tell you first hand how hot it gets. (It does look real nice though)

The flexteak is awesome... it gets warm/hot - but just use your transom shower and cool it off. Better yet, if it's that hot, jump in the lake and dry off on the platform.

The rubber mat gets hot as well.

Carpet is a great idea! I just don't want install and haul carpet all the time. I would think it can get dirty quick - then what?

FW parts/accessories are expensive! I get a good deal on any parts, and they aren't cheap!

+1 to contact Winnisaquam Marine…… Although they are just about right price from FW….. They are never cheap. The flag pole costs $200…… Swim Platform mat is great…. They are snap on and it come off and you can clean it…… I agree that they would get hot but we just pour a bucket of water once in a while and we are all set….

A BUNCH of my friends that have swimplatforms.com platforms have had carpet made to match their interior. They dont seem to get dirty, they dont fly off and best of all...they are not burning hot!!!

Thanks for all the info! I will call Winnisquam, but it sounds like I should skip the mat for now. Nothing worse than getting out of the cool water and burning your butt when you sit down! In the meantime, I'll check out the other boats in my marina. I know there's one that has the flexiteak. It'll be worth going over on a hot day to see just how hot it gets. I do agree with those who said it looks great... at least based on the pictures I've seen.

I had carpet on the swim platform of my 406 Carver motoryacht and it looked great, but I did have to clean it a lot. The other thing I didn't like about having carpet was when I was wearing normal clothes, I wasn't able to sit on the swim platform and hang my feet in the water because it was always wet.

The flexiteek gets obscenely hot in direct sunlight. Much, much hotter than plain old getcoat. Yeah, it looks nicer but it's supremely difficult to walk across in bare feet when it heats up.

I second the warning about carpet being a problem for seating when wet. Even the cockpit carpet takes ages to dry out if rain or a wake gets to it.

I can see how the cruiser guys wouldnt plan on getting wet and would have a different need for a dry platform to hang out on. Us bowriders...if we are out...we are getting wet, lol.

As far as replacement parts go, if it's not a piece of fiberglass then it's probably made by another company, not Four Winns. Most hardware is source from other vendors. You can often find out which vendors by looking up the part number on the Four Winns parts website (whose URL escapes me at the moment). Once you find the part number, search for it on the web. More often than not it'll come up somewhere, often with some vendor identifying info. Then you can either contact that vendor directly or a distributor.

I'd bet even the carpets are made by someone else. The canvas is made by Great Lakes and you can definitely order from them direct. Most the panels come with a tag that has a part number on it. I'm guessing the same would be true for a cover. That and they had a 25% off sale last spring. Might be worth checking.

You could just put some of this on it:

We installed the pad last year ('08) on our '07 and yes it was expensive but the Admiral wanted it for Mother's day to help the kids from slipping while playing on the deck. While it does get hot if not wet ours is always wet and never an issue, and we are out virtually every weekend in Texas. In the rare occassions that it is not wet and does get hot a quick splash of water does the trick and usually there is always water near by

No regrets and would install it again. It is actualy easier to clean!
