Hello - I need to order a new bimini top for my 2000 248vista. I just need the canvas, not the frame.

Any ideas where I can order one?

Check:

1. eBay
2. Winnisquam Marine or your local Four Winns Dealer
3. Visit a local canvas shop and see if they can make one
4. Overtons
5. West Marine

They made the canvas for your boat, but do not list back that far on their website. Get a quote from them. They do not list the boat we are considering, but they did make the canvas for it when it was new, and still have the templates on hand to make it.

Local canvas shop will probably be your cheapest, and custom fit since you have the frame already. Winni will take months and big $'s, E-Bay is a shot in the dark.

I too would just find a local shop. Check with some of the permanent slip people at your local marina. I'm wiling to bet they can give you some names and numbers as well as recommendations of who to stay away from.

I am assuming you have the old one on hand so they could use it as a rough template and the zippers could be re-used which will save you money too.

I've used a local upholstery shop to repair my bimini and they also made my trailering cover.

You might consider adding a signature block with your boat info and location. Some folks may have suggestions based on where you live, if they've used local vendors....

Any idea on a ballpark figure?

Great Lakes did not make the canvas for my 2000 Sundowner, not sure who did back then.

Maybe you could try here. They make it from your measurements. Worth a try I guess. I have no experience with them however.

Here is one just down the River in Aurora IN. I don't know anything about the shop but not too far from downtown Cincy. http://www.custom-boat-covers.com/

What Marina are you keeping your boat in? I would imagine they have some contacts. Almost every marina I've been in has canvas shop business cards posted somwhere.

This is the local Four Winns dealer http://www.loddersmarine.com/Home/tabid/23073/Default.aspx
I don't know if they do canvas or not but, if not they must contract with someone you could try there as well.

Hello -

So I called two local canvas shops.........both want $500 - $750 for just the Bimini Top Canvas (no camper).

I called Overtons who said they don't sell just the actual top, they sell the top with the frame for around $500.

I'm a tad confused why it would cost almost the same from a canvas shop without a frame.

Any other places you guys can think of to get just the top (no frame needed).

Thanks,

If you get it from overtons, and not custom or direct from Four Winns don't expect it to work with your other canvas. I went straight to Four Winns for mine, although I had the canvas but needed the frame to make sure it would all work with my existing camper top. I paid $500 cdn for my frame delivered to the door, I would expect it is the expensive part out of the two.

When you got the new frame from Four Winns was it a straight bolt in process? My bimini/camper frame/poles were bent during delivery and I'm looking at getting it all straightened out.

I contacted a local canvas shop and they weren't immediately sure if they could make new frame match existing canvas. If new frame is bolt in, I could buy and do it myself. Plus I won't have to worry about taking boat to/from shop as I no longer have a tow vehicle and have to rent a truck.

I had existing canvas I needed to have fit the OEM bimini top. Ordered it for $535.00 cdn(just the frame) opened the box, put it directly on the boat, add canvas and a perfect fit. It is the exact one that came with the boat from the factory, just make sure when ordering to give them your hull ID

I noticed the canvas on your boat this week... It looks real nice all setup and waiting to be splashed. I'm doing a job up at the prison and have been by your place alot lately. Your boat is sparkling very nice. Did you end up having somebody polish it?

We'll have to try and get together this year!
