Post subject:  Ski tube tow hook on vista 258?

Has anyone installed a ski tube tow hook on a vista 258?

My boat has an extended swim platform so I don't see myself using the regular hooks on the boat with a rope and pulley system.

I'd like to install it right around where the words Four Winns are written but the fiberglass looks paper thin there.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Vistas = no tow hooks

Need one of these

to connect to transom hooks. Then hook tow rope up to this.

Ok, I read the link to the post and it seems as though some people use this bridle to connect to the transom hooks or the aft cleats. Most of my past boats always had specific hook ups for pulling a tube/skier so please excuse my possibly stupid questions. I dont mond using the transom hooks but mine are located underneath the swim platform (some boats have them to the sides) so the only way to hook up is to swim under the swim platform to hook up. this isnt ideal. Also, I know the rope floats but isnt there a very strong chance of the rope getting caught in the prop since it is conected so close to the water? If I use the aft cleats, is the a bridle I can use specifically for hook up to cleats?

I would not use the aft cleats unless you plan on replacing them after they get ripped off the boat. They will not support the torque created from towing from them.

You mean the same cleats that hold your boat to the dock in a storm?
I used mine on my old boat for years (93 Sea Ray) with no problem.

I used them on my 1987 bayliner. Granted it was a motoryacht so maybe the cleats were stronger but still I would think that using a bridle with a pully it would share the pull.
