Hello all,

I know this has been beat to death but does anyone know the correct model number for the separate gauge replacement unit for the 2000 H230 VDO dash? I've asked two Four Winns dealers and both have the same answer "Four Winns says to contact Rapair". Is it by chance 025-3119? I've seen that model number out there but I can't tell if it will work with the 2000 H230. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

Andy,

I'm sure I came across it once (by accident!) on this Four Winns Parts web site http://www.fourwinns.net/partbook

Maybe this is the one you are after, if you are looking for the Faria replacement dash gauges and panel ( 2000 on panels are different to 1999 and earlier dash panels, with the "wood" trim that sweeps around the instrument cluster)

http://www.fourwinns.net/partbook/showpart.php?pn=118-21057&qty=1.0000&start=06/15/2000&stop=NA%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20&mx=1

Hey there...

Here's what my correspondence with FW yielded...

Jef

Jef,

The part number for the VDO replacement panel is 025-3118. This
will be a wood grain panel with individual Faria gauges set in it, and
it is plug and play. To purchase this piece you will need to contact
your local Four Winns dealer.

Thank you,
Greg Winkelmann

Comments:Hey Four Winns...

I love the boat I bought this summer - thanks. It's a '99 Horizon
180LS. The only thing I could hope to improve is the operation of the
instrument cluster. I've read online that the VDO automotive-style gauge
cluster has been problematic over the years. I think I've found the
solution, but need a bit of info from you guys, so PLEASE HELP...

Is FW part number 025-3119 the replacement plug-and-go option that will
fit my boat?

Again - please help.

Jef

Andy,

Did you ever get an answer on the replacement for your 2000 H230? I've got a 2001 H230 and looking at the Four Winns site, it looks like they changed clusters around mid-2000 so I'm not sure if the replacement would be different.

I checked with the dealer and they believe that the 025-3119 was correct panel for my boat so I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. I received it yesterday and based on the pictures that I have of my boat, it looks like the correct replacement. Unfortunately, my boat is 1.5 hours away so I haven't been able to check it yet. I may be able to make it up this weekend to attempt an install. I can't give anyone a definitive answer yet, but I'll keep y'all posted.

John

When you get a chance, can you post pix? I'm betting it will work on my 2001 H260 also. When they say "plug and play" are they infurring it's just one harness to unplug/plug?

OK, I talked to Greg at Fourwinns parts and he informs me that part number 025-3119-01 is the Faria replacement dash for a 2000 H230. Even better news is that they offer it in "Dark Sheffield" which is the grey trim color my boat (and I think all 2000's) was equiped with. He is going to send me a link to the part number and a picture. I will post when I get it.
MSRP is $506.98  Hopefully it can bought cheaper.

That price is right in-line with what I have been quoted. Knock on wood my cluster is still working fine. Will replace it when it finally goes.

Dave...I do not think it is one master plug. But from what I have seen it is very simple to just swap out.

Anyone still have their Automotive style gauges out of their boats that they don't want anymore? I have something I want to try but don't want to tear up my guages just incase it doesn't work.
I can't afford the $500+ that they want for the replacements.
Thanks!

Yes, the 025-3119 that I purchased has one 24-pin plug and then it splits the wires up to the individual gauges. It appears that the 24-pin plug currently going to the VDO Cluster will just plug into this plug..."plug and play" or as we used to say the computer field..."plug and pray". I can't put my finger on it now, but I previously read (I believe on a different forum) that it was a 30 min job to replace. Unless something comes up, I am planning to head up to the lake tomorrow and attempt the install. I will take pictures and give a full report when I return.

Crazy weather, it is going to be Sunny and 65 here in Tennessee tomorrow. I will be dying to put the boat in the water and take it for a spin on the lake to fully test the new gauges, but 20 degree weather is right around the corner.

Is the speedometer a pitot type type, or electrical?

If electrical and made by Faria, is there a part number on it?

Thanks, Graham

The paddle wheel speedo stays with the FW replacement dashes. All you do is pull the old dash and put in the new one. Plug is exactly pin for pin and old harness plug goes into new dash without change at all. This is a good thing since that was (is) a custom plug and socket and not available on the open market. I can't get at the speedo for some time yet, as the boat is still in storage, so I can't get at a part number. Sorry.

I appreciate all the discussion and everyone’s input on the VDO issue. As I mentioned previously, I decided to go ahead and purchase the 025-3119 on eBay. I traveled up to the lake on Saturday and the removal and install went very well. One issue was that I had to cutout the dash for the new panel to fit (see picture below). Fortunately, I had a hacksaw and coping saw in the tool box from working on my son’s pinewood derby car. Even with that, the whole process took less than 1 hour while being very slow and careful and I do not consider myself to very “handy”. I am very pleased with the results. Looking forward to taking it out for a full test drive so I can test all of the gauges.

Here are the Faria part numbers as best as I could read them:

Depth: D80111A
Fuel: GP9427A
Voltage: VP9152A
Speedometer: SE0571A
Tachometer: TC9198E
Oil Pressure: FP9637A
Temp: GP9140A
Trim: GP9436A

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Below is the picture of the 2000 replacement dash - 025-3119-01 which is grey, not wood.

That looks great...nice work. I will replace ours when it starts to go. I like the looks of the replacement dash...but I also like the look of the VDO one. So no need to change for me right now.
