Over the past couple trips out I have noticed I am losing some power steering fluid. I have done some research and it looks like it it could be a variety of issues ranging from a bad hose to a bad steering cylinder (steering actuator). I have seem some posts the mention taking the cylinder to hydraulics shops to get them repaired. The boat is currently in the shop and it will be a few days before they can look at it to determine the issue.

I may be getting ahead of myself, but want to get some ideas to lessen my time without the boat and save a few bucks.

My understanding is there is not a whole lot of room to work around the engine on a Horizon 180.

My questions:
1) How easily can the steering cylinder be accessed for replacement? Is there room or is it plausible the engine will need to be pulled to get access?

2) Any success stories on getting the steering cylinder worked on or should I bite the bullet and replace it, if that is indeed the source of my fluid loss.

3) How easily can the heat exchanger / power steering cooler - be accessed for replacement? Is there room or is it plausible the engine will need to be pulled to get access?

4) Any other general comments on access to steering components on the Horizon 180.

Any other experiences or suggestion are welcomed.

Thanks!!
