Oh hot damn i think i am in love with the new Horison 290.... I like the concept of a larger cruiser that is set up for comfort for multiple people. and they did not skimp on the seating. Man oh Man I'm sure that you could seat 12-15 people very comfortable. The adjustable stern sun pad lounge back rest is a great concept that I would get a lot of use out of at anchor. Speaking of anchor I am a huge fan of the all chain windlass that sure makes things easy. I could see myself int he twin 380 power package that will push you to 60 in a blink of an eye..

I sure love a good bar. with built in fridge. winner winner

You missed the best part. It's a cuddy cabin that sleeps 2.

Not really a new boat. You also missed the initial announcement and conversation almost 1 year ago...

none the less i like the overall size, power, layout and PARTY setup.. the next boat will either be of this concept or a cabin cruiser. but i like this mix of features and very large spaces..

Ok. Since you have about $250,000 to spend on your next boat, and you like the H290, also consider these two boats that
are similar:

Monterey 328SS

Cruisers 328SS

I purposely omitted the Formula 350 CBR as that is another $100K over your budget.

Or if you want to spend a little less, try the Ebbtide 2700

That's a very boring boat. That 290 is a great looking ride, if I was in the market it would definately make my short list!

the H290 can be had in my area for 119-135k with the power options I have considered.. BUT YES IT IS BIG DOLLARS. and no i will not be buying one new. Keep this 190 for 5 more years and pick up a use 290  when they have gotten to a more reasonable price point. I want a cabin but i want the speed and cockpit space. We have also said the Sundowner or similar cabin could be an option.. But the 290 has me wanting to see one in person BADLY.

I talked with a guy with a 26SS over the weekend at the landing and watches it run and likes it in person a lot. Which is good because the SS series has struck my eye since they were announced back in 2012 fall if i remember correct. I plan to keep this 190 for a few more years before is trade up.. but i know i will trade up this is boat number 9 or 10 in the past 16 years. I buy Fix, make nice, flip for profit and move on to the next one.

but the wife and I both said last night that we could see keeping the 290 for years and years and would be a great platform for our expected first mate in November.

Dream boat i could go all out.. the boat i want if i had open budget and could have only one boat is an 80' custom sport fish. but we are talking 800-1.5M for that and well unless the lottery picks my numbers that is not happening any time soon..

As for reality i am not stuck on new so i am not afraid to go older to have more. I can afford a lot more than the 21 year old 190 that i have BUT it was too good of a steel to pass up and well it did not dent my cash at the house stash. All around it is a great boat.. BUT i would like more space for 2 families with kids to have room and not feel like we are piled on top of each other. And if any one sais pontoon boat i will vomit.

We're looking at in about 10 years you will get a used 2014 H290 for around $40k. Hope you can wait :)

Short term goals? I am seriously considering selling my Chap for an Ebbtide 2600. So serious I actually emailed my broker. With my dry rack storage having a full cabin means little to me now a days, but I still like having it for naps or bad weather. A bow section and sunpad would be way more valuable on the river, and with the Ebbtide's small cuddy it would fit me perfect.

Pontoon Boat....... :?:  :?:

Even funnier is that I have skied behind one with a 150 Verado, is was not too bad but weird with 2 wakes. Driver said it was like driving on black ice with little ability to control when I dug it in on a turn.. actually had a blast, but would not own one!
