Hello again. Ive got nearly 20 hours on my 2014 h190. It has a volvo 4.3 225hp. The sticker on the motor says wot should be 4800rpms however i can barely make it to 4000, and thats trimmed up, just me in the boat. Does fourwinns not prop their boats properly or is this more common?

Where are you? Altitude? The default prop for that boat is based on a certain load at sea level. It is often up to the dealer to specify an alternate size prop - or even gear ratio - based on delivery location.

In the end, regardless of the problem (prop, gearing, poor performing engine, etc), the dealer is your resource for resolving issues on a new boat.

Good luck!

Hi, thanks for the input. Im in northern illinois. Im not sure what the deal is but the boats in for its 20 hour service, a buff job and some minor warranty work ie: cosmetic defects prior to delivery and an inop 12v acessory outlet. They are going to take care of it wether its a new prop or something else.

I wouldn't assume that the prop that came with it is right for the boat. My '88 H-200 had a 14.5x19 on it when I bought it. Looking through FW's website data for previous models, I figured out that the V-6 versions of the H-200 of my year range should have come with a 15x17. I switched to this prop a couple of years after I got the boat and it performed better and reached max RPM as it should (4600-4800).

I had the same issue with my 2013 H200 4.3L Volvo. It is actually the RPM gauge. It appears that the tachometer is set to V8 from the factory. Good thing is that it is an easy fix. If the boat is still at the shop (Skipper Bud's?) then have then check out the tach. If not, you can do the fix at home...

Get under the dash to loosen the 2 bolts that are holding the tach in place. unplug the harness and be sure to note where the plug is connected as i believe there are 2 identical spots on the back of the tach. You will then see a switch on the back that is 1,2,3,4,5. I am guessing that yours is set to 3 which is for v8. move the switch to 2 for v6 and your RPMs should now be displaying correctly. Let me know if you have any questions.

The boats being delivered back to the harbor tomorrow morning. Im not sure what prop is on it however they told me the tach was broken. The needle was getting stuck at 3900 rpm. They ordered a new tach and will come out and install it when it comes in. I bought the boat from skipper budds as well. The one on rt 12 in volo.

Thanks megatron, i may have tried that if it wasnt already due for its 20 hour service. They told me the tach was operating properly up until 3900 rpms. After that it was stuck. It was propped correctly and the engine is operating as it should.

sounds good. I still think the tach is just not setup correctly, but a replacement tach works too. Hope they properly configure the replacement tach or it will "get stuck at 3900" also.

I also picked up our Four Winns at Skipper Bud's. where do you boat? Chain o lakes?
