Post subject:  GPS/Fishfinder on 2009 H240

Hello. I am looking for some advice from Horizon owners on what kind of GPS/Fishfinder fits on there boat, where and how it was mounted, and where you put the transducer. I am really at a loss on this one. I want to at least put on a GPS but I have no clue which one is going to fit or how to mount it with the vinyl dash and limited distance in height from windshield.
Thank you for any and all advice.

This is what a Garmin GPSmap 441 (or GPSmap 441S same size) looks like on an older H240:

I have the same one, 441S. Fits nicely in a smaller boat.

Thanks for the picture. Garmin doesn't make the 441 any longer. The closest one I could find is the echomap 53dv. Did you put a transducer on your boat?

Yep I just replaced the old one which was for the Humminbird that was on it when I bought it. You just have to make sure you bed the screws well with Life Seal or 3M 4200. And same goes for the hole you have to make way up at the top end of the transom for the cable. That was a pretty big hole if I remember right, used a clamshell fitting to cover the sealer/cable etc.

I purchased a Lowrance Hook4 GPS Chartplotter/fishfinder. I was able to mount it to the dash without putting any holes in the boat. I haven't decided on where to mount the transducer. I have heard that you can epoxy them on the floor of the engine compartment and they work just fine. I won't get water temp doing this but I don't really care. I would like it in the engine compartment so I don't have to drill 3/4" hole in the boat. Has anyone mounted a transducer designed for outside the boat inside their boat?
