So there is a gap between the 'floor' under the engine and the bottom of the boat? Maybe they changed this after a certain year? Its odd that they would make a hull so that water could get trapped like that. Did they just not care that it could cause rot?

Speaking about all of this, I was looking under the engine of our 2006 H180 a few days ago and noticed that I could see the wood of the transom through the plug hole! So if water is sitting in the bilge area its always in contact with the transom wood.. Does this seem right? I figured the brass piece that the plug screwed into would go completely through the transom then would be sealed on the inside of the boat. I contorted myself to get down there and feel of the wood, it feels hard still. The bilge should be dry in the winter but the mooring cover drips some so in the summer there is always water in the boat....
