I just purchased a 1999 Four Winns Horizon 200. It didn't come with a trailer and i have been trying to find out how much this boat weighs and type of trailer i should get. I did check the FW homepage owners manual but it doesn't give specs for 200 only the 190 model.

I'm not tying to find the exact trailer, Im' trying to get measurements so when i do find that trailer i can modify to fit my boat before attempting to load it.

On a budget so not looking at new ones.

Here's an excerpt from the Four Winns 2004 Horizon 200 pamphlet:

I am not sure if there were significant changes to the hull, 1999 vs. 2004. I have a 1996 Horizon 200 with the factory single axle trailer. I believe my boat weighs approx. 2500 lb and the trailer is approx. 800 lb. I would be happy to take a few pics and token measurements for you. I believe a 1999 Horizon 200 is basically the same as a 1996.

Edit:

Here's the spec's for a 1999. Scroll to pg. 96

Gale thanks for the response and I got the trailer specs off page 96 but pictures and measurements would help me tremendously. I dont want to damage the hull test fitting when putting it on the trailer for the first time.

Sorry for the delay, been working on my boat to get ready for another trip to the lake.

Here's some pic's. It was easier for me to model it and pick off critical dimensions than to annotate pictures.

Here is a detailed and dimensioned CAD drawing:

Here's a 3D .pdf you can zoom and rotate. Adobe Reader will ask you to trust the document to open. Then click anywhere in the white space. It takes awhile to load (1.3 Mb). It isn't happy opening in Chrome, use IE Explorer or Safari or Firefox:

Sorry for the mini hijack

Gale, where did you get that boat cover and do you like it?

I bought it from coveranything.com It's their SHOREFITâ„¢ PLATINUM 1200, semi-customized for a Four Winn's. I'm pleased with the material and quality of the stitching and reasonable locations of the tie-down straps. I will have to add a few loops on the trailer for better tie-down attachments. The price was right, $200 with free shipping and was in stock and shipped quickly. As you can see, the fit is a bit short adjacent the windshield and the front is a bit baggy, as if it were meant for a boat with taller bow rails. Aside from that, I like it. It sheds water like crazy and the interior remains dry and the material is fairly heavy. The elastic surround is nice to help keep it in place and the rear pulls down clear over the bottoms of the pods.

I don't intend to tow with it on. My old perfectly fitting factory Four Winns cover rubbed and wore thru the engine cover upholstery corners and the top rear of the side panels. The clasps on the tie-downs wore some deep gouges in the gel coat.

With this size boat the main thing besides it fitting the boat right is to make sure to get one with a 6-lug axle & 12" brakes if going with a single axle trailer to ensure enough load capacity. A
