Post subject:  Some general questions about my newly purchased Horizon 180

Hi all, I just purchased a 2006 Four Winns Horizon 180. It has a MerCruiser MCM 3.0L engine with an AlphaOne leg. The trasnsom number is 4818 and driver number is 1435.
It has a prop on it but it doesn't have any numbers that I can make out. It needs to be replaced but I really don't know what I should be replacing it with. I'm going to go with a 3 blade prop but I don't know any more than that. It goes pretty good, probably around 45 mph but I don't know that for sure because the speedo is eratic. I just purchased a Garmin GPS for the unit but didn't get it in the water after mounting it because it got too cold out.

Can you suggest what I should be looking at?

I also have another issue and that is with the passenger seat. The passenger seat flip-up bolster appears to be broken as it is loose between the front of the seat and back of the bolster. I can’t see how to take it appart to repair and now I’m beginning to think that the material (seam) has to be cut before you can get to the area where the bolster attaches to the inside of the seat.

Is this correct or is there a way to take off the flip-up bolster to fix it (if it can be fixed)

According to Four Winns "Fast Facts" document (page 4), found here:
http://www.fourwinns.com/uploads/2017/2/FastFacts2006.pdf
Your boat came with a 14-1/2"dia x 19" pitch Aluminum propeller, and they estimate a 38-41mph top speed. That's probably what you will see with your GPS, as these "fast facts" are usually pretty accurate with a light load.

Regarding the seat: I don't know your model, but it seems HIGHLY unlikely that you would need to remove or unseam any upholstery to get to the attachment. They would not want to have put it together that way at the factory. I would keep looking for a way to disassemble it without removing upholstery.

I've replied to your post on iBoats. I've also offered a solution here before -
